Basil Pesto

I usually opt for making fresh pesto for my pasta and sandwiches. It just adds more flavor and freshness to the food, after all it is all about the sauce. This recipe is a fairly simple and you can either chose to make it right when you need it or just freeze it for a later use. You can even try creating your own variations at home, by adding avocados, switching up the cheese etc.

2-4 servings


2 cups Basil Leaves

4 cloves Garlic

1/2 cup Walnuts or you can use pine nuts

2/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil


Black Pepper

1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese

Lemon zest or 1 tbsp lemon juice


1. Add Basil, Garlic, Walnuts into a food processor.

2. Add Parmesan cheese, Lemon zest ,Salt and Peper to taste.

3. Add 1/2 cup oil and pulse it until coarsely chopped.

4. Add the remaining oil and process until smooth.

Note: If you plan on freezing your pesto and use it in the future. You can skip adding the oil in step 4 and instead add it once you have bottled the smooth pesto.
